Join us in the summer for the annual Chowderfest in Oxnard where flavor, music and community converge on the Channel Islands Harbor. Sample chowder from the best local restaurants and vote for your favorite while enjoying wine and craft beer from local vendors. The event takes place at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum grounds. Attendees of Chowderfest will also get the opportunity to explore the exhibits and museum!

The initial Chowderfest was in 2019, but the event has quickly become a crowd pleaser amongst locals and visitors. Each year’s fest is highly requested and attended. In recent years, Chowderfest has been a sold out event!

Chowderfest is centered around a lively culinary competition where local restaurants go head-to-head, serving up their best recipes in hopes of earning top honors. Awards include Best Chowder, Most Unique and the coveted People’s Choice Award, making every tasting an opportunity to discover something new.
As you sample each offering, you’ll have the chance to cast your vote and help crown the winners. From classic, creamy New England-style chowders to bold, inventive creations with unexpected flavors, the variety keeps things exciting from start to finish. Seafood & Co., Waterside Restaurant & Wine Bar and The Lookout Bar & Grill, along with visiting chefs from neighboring harbor communities.
Many of these restaurants specialize in fresh seafood sourced from the Santa Barbara Channel, giving the event an authentic coastal character that reflects the region’s connection to the ocean.

- Parking: Free parking is available throughout the harbor in multiple lots, all within walking distance of the event.
- Registration Required: This is a ticketed event and advance purchase recommended as it often sells out. Buying tickets in advance gives you access to the full event beginning at 12pm. Purchasing a ticket at the gate will give you access to the event beginning at 1pm
- Accessibility: The Maritime Museum and courtyard areas are accessible, with paved pathways throughout the event space.
- Restrooms: Portable restrooms are available on-site for attendee convenience.
- Family-Friendly: All ages are welcome to attend. Please note that food offerings are primarily seafood-focused.\
- Event Policies: A valid ID is required upon entry due to alcohol service. Guests under 21 will be given a designated wristband.
- Animals: Only service animals are permitted at the event.
