Whale Watching
The coast of Oxnard is a whale watchers paradise. More than 100 species of marine life including mammals, sharks, sea birds and fish live in or migrate through the coastline between Oxnard and the Channel Islands. This makes viewing these specimen one of the best spots in the world.
Whale watching takes place almost year-round in the channel. From the end of December through mid-April, the coastline is rife with gray whales that are migrating from their breeding grounds in Baja California to the nutrient-rich ocean in Alaska. June through October the channel becomes a superhighway for the blue and humpback whales.
Wildlife excursions, including whale watching are available almost daily from businesses located in the Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard (see listings below).
