An intriguing story of a woman whose husband brings a stranger to their home and its consequences comes to the Elite Theatre Company. The Pinochet Regime has stepped aside to make space for a shaky democracy while the military still pulls the strings in the background. Paulina Salas is a former political prisoner who was raped by her captors, led by a sadistic and unseen doctor who played Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" during her torture. When a stranger, who has helped her husband, turns up at the couple's home she becomes convinced that the man before her - Dr. Miranda - is one who tortured her while held by the authorities. She decides to take matters in to her own hands and prove it is the same man -but is he innocent or guilty?

Director Shawn W. Lanz said, "I am thrilled with the opportunity to work on such a gripping, challenging piece. I love it when a theatrical experience can really transport the audience, can give them something to think and talk about, even after the curtain falls. The Elite Theatre Company is doing just that - bringing a masterpiece of suspense and drama to the community, to challenge audience members and actors alike. I hope you'll join us on this journey - you'll be glad you did!"

Death and the Maiden runs at Elite Theatre Company (main stage), 2731 S. Victoria Ave., Oxnard, Ca 93035, from April 17 - May 24, 2015. The theater is located at the beautiful Channel Islands Harbor Fisherman's Wharf at 2731 S. Victoria Avenue, Oxnard 93035. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 general admission, $15 for students, seniors and military with I.D.
