Channel Islands National Park
Even though the Channel Islands seem tantalizingly close to the Southern California coast, their relative isolation offshore has left them undeveloped, making them an exciting place for visitors to explore.
Just a 90-minute boat ride from Oxnard ’s Channel Islands Harbor is Anacapa Island , only 11 miles offshore and the closest of the five islands in the National Park. On Anacapa, visitors can hike unspoiled wilderness trails, explore sea coves by kayak, and view unusual wildlife including rare and endangered birds.
