The Carnegie Art Museum showcases four changing exhibits per year, ranging from contemporary art to French Impressionism.

At the Gull Wing’s Children’s Museum, children enjoy hands-on, interactive exhibits such as a Beachside Bistro, Medical Room, Farmers Market and critter corner.

The recently expanded Murphy Auto Museum features more than sixty autos on display, including antiques, early classics, street rods and a large collection of Packards.

View an extensive collection of uniforms, weapons, art and models that capture the proud traditions of the U.S Navy’s legendary Seabees at the CEC Seabee Museum in Port Hueneme . The museum also traces the history of the U.S. Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps. Open Tuesday through Saturday. Current military I.D. or appointment required.

Maritime history comes alive at the Ventura County Maritime Museum. Enjoy self-guided and docent tours of the museum's unique model ships, fine art, and constantly-changing maritime exhibits.

The Plaza Art Gallery, located at historic downtown adjacent to the Carnegie Art Museum , presents works by contemporary and modern artists with an emphasis on Latino Art. (805) 486-6947.

   
  Historic Places
 


Experience Oxnard ’s fascinating past with a stroll through Heritage Square, a charming complex of 15 restored turn-of-the-century buildings set in lushly landscaped setting. Guided tours on Saturday. (805) 483-7960

In 1999, the Henry T. Oxnard Historic District, a five block area of "F" and "G" Streets in downtown Oxnard , was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The District, comprised of 144 homes, was one of the city's first subdivisions.

The Port Hueneme Lighthouse, an ornate two-story Victorian structure, was established in 1874 to guide shipping through the Santa Barbara Channel off the coast of Oxnard. Free tours are available on the third Saturday of the month. (310) 732-7310
